Kim Garside – Expressions of Nature
Our newest exhibition went up yesterday and is by Kim Garside of Hamilton. Entitled “Expressions of Nature” it features native fauna and birds. It is a vibrant, colourful and fun collection of original works priced from just $55.00.
Kim Garside holds a degree in Visual Arts, as well as Primary Teaching, and has two little boys. She loves to work from home around his kids’ schedules. Her portrait painting for children has kept Kim in business for 8 years, while she usually puts out a series of large contemporary paintings to exhibit twice a year.
Kim Garside came to NZ from Canada in 1996, and has lived in Raglan since then. She has recently moved to Hamilton with her children, and aims to return to Teaching part time, while growing her business and studying photography.
Kim’s preferred medium is acrylic paint at the moment, because it allows her to be expressive and fast, layer, and it is quick drying, which works in well with Kim’s lifestyle and environment. She often works on a number of paintings at once, and loves to go with her inspiration in colours, which do not necessarily match her subject matter, giving them a fun and fresh feeling.
