Pohutukawa (po-hu-tu-ka-wa) opened its doors in December 2004, situated downtown Mount Maunganui in the heart of “The Mount”. Within walking distance to the bustling surf beach “Main Beach” and the quieter harbour “Pilot Bay”, the popular downtown shopping area sits right in the middle of a peninsula with the iconic Mount Maunganui (Mauao) on the end of the spit. Boasting sidewalk cafes and restaurants, specialist boutique style shops and galleries it is a holiday haven for international and national tourists alike.

At Pohutukawa we love New Zealand and all it has to offer, our gallery has a distinct pacific/New Zealand flavour and ambience with timber boardwalks and stone pebble floors which form the shaped of the koru. We have a fabulous selection of quality and affordable New Zealand art, for the garden and home, special gifts and souvenirs, amazing beaded jewellery, all carefully created and crafted by local and national artists, exhibitions by local up and coming artists which change monthly. Our store is equally enjoyed by New Zealanders and tourists alike.

Our website has two parts to it, Artist Categories and an Online store.
The online store is just that, our store on the web so you can shop from the comfort of your home. If you make an order online we will try to get your order on its way to you the same or next day that the funds show in our account. To do this we have only put the things that we pretty much always have in stock, so some of the trickier hand crafted items won’t be in our online store. If you see something that is not in the store you can email or call us and we’ll do our best to help.
We have tried to make the postage as cheap as possible but to do this we are unable to send things to post office boxes, only to actual addresses.

Our shopping cart is only set up for shipping with in New Zealand. If you need items shipped outside of New Zealand please email us with your requirements and we will get a quote for you. Thanks.
